The 50 mm towball standard
The 50 mm tow ball is the standard in Europe and most international markets and is defined in ISO 1103. Caravans and most light and medium trailers in Europe use it.
GMC 3000 on a 50 mm towball
On a 50 mm towball the GMC 3000 ball hitch is rated for trailers up to 1500 kg. It locks over the ball and carries pulling, braking and the vertical load on the ball.
Check your tow ball before coupling
- Check that the tow ball is a 50 mm ball. The size is usually stamped on the ball or the tow bar.
- Check the ball for wear, damage or corrosion.
- Check that trailer mass and nose weight stay within the limits of the vehicle, the tow bar and the coupling.

The GMC 3000 is for 50 mm tow balls only. Never couple it to a ball of another size; a mismatched ball can release under load.
